VNC: Name Too Long


This protocol anomaly is a VNC message with a display name length that exceeds the user-defined maximum. The default display name maximum is 128; you can change this setting in the Sensor Settings Rulebase>Protocol Thresholds and Configuration>VNC>Display name length.

Extended Description

Detection of datagrams containing a Server Initialization message which are greater than 128 bytes may indicate a network configuration error or indicate an attack.
