TELNET: Sub-Option Buffer Overflow


This protocol anomaly triggers when it detects a TELNET sub-option/sub-negotiation with a length that exceeds the maximum allowed or configured. This can be a buffer overflow attempt.

Extended Description

Receiving such a message could indicate either a software misconfiguration or that an attack against an end system is being attempted.
