This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Motorola Timbuktu Pro 8.6.5 for Windows. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the server. This signature can detect binding of the vulnerable named pipe, but cannot determine if it is malicious in nature.
Motorola Timbuktu Pro for Windows is prone to a remote stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized memory buffer. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Failed exploit attempts will result in denial-of-service conditions. Versions prior to Timbuktu Pro 8.6.7 for Windows are vulnerable.
