SMB: Samba Receive Raw

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the Samba package. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the user.

Extended Description

Microsoft Windows is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. A remote attacker can exploit this issue to crash the Windows kernel, denying service to legitimate users. The issue affects Windows 7 and 2008 R2.
