This protocol anomaly triggers when it detects a remote procedure call (RPC) packet that does not contain enough UDP data. The Portmapper protocol reads the UDP data in the packet to convert the UDP port number to an RPC program number; if not enough UDP data exists, Portmapper cannot perform the conversion.
The impact depends on how a portmapper service handles a malformed request. At best, the portmapper simply rejects the packet because it is unable to make a proper conversion between program number and service port.
