This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against the Network File System (NFS) implementation in the Linux Kernel. A successful attack can result in a denial-of-service condition, generally invoking a reboot of the targeted system.
The Linux kernel is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial-of-service condition. Versions prior to Linux kernel 2.6.26.4 are vulnerable.
