IP: Identical Source and Destination

This protocol anomaly triggers when it detects an IP packet with the same source and destination addresses. This can indicate a denial of service attempt.

Extended Description

IP packets containing identical source and destination addresses may indicate that an attack is being attempted on the IP implementation. Deliberate configuration, or misconfiguration are also sources of this type of protocol anomaly.
