ICMP: Packet Containing Options
This signature detects ICMP packets containing IP options. Packets traversing Internet firewalls do not typically contain IP options. Malicious users can utilize IP options to tag packets while probing remote networks.
Extended Description
Microsoft Windows is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability. The vulnerability arises in the Microsoft Windows TCP/IP protocol driver when IP Source Routing has been enabled. A remote attacker may trigger a denial-of-service condition or may execute arbitrary code, leading to a complete compromise.
