HTTP: Microsoft Certification Service Cross Site Scripting (XSS)

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against Microsoft Certification Service. This service typically runs over HTTPS, however, when used with the SSL Forward Proxy feature or when the server's private keys are loaded on to the IDP, these encrypted sessions are inspected as HTTP. A successful attack can lead to arbitrary script execution within the context of the trusted server domain.

Extended Description

Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services are prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because the Web Enrollment component fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal potentially sensitive information and launch other attacks.
