This signature detects attempts to exploit a known stack buffer overflow vulnerability in Sun Microsystem's Java System Web Server. It is due to a boundary error when processing crafted WEBDAV requests. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted HTTP request to a target server, potentially causing arbitrary code to be injected and executed in the security context of the affected process.
Sun Java System Web Server is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. The issue affects the WebDAV functionality. Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition. Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 Update 7 and prior.
