This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Hewlett-Packard (HP) computers containing Modemutil.dll. An attacker can create malicious Web pages containing dangerous ActiveX calls, which if access by a victim, can allow the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
HP Help and Support Center is prone to an unspecified remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial of service.
