HTTP: EMC Captiva QuickScan Pro KeyHelp Unsafe ActiveX Control

This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in EMC Captiva QuickScan Pro KeyHelp, found in EMC QuickScan Pro 4.6 SP1 and EMC Documentum ApplicationXtender Desktop 5.4. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.

Extended Description

KeyWorks KeyHelp Module is prone to a remote stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. Attackers can leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Successful exploits will compromise the application and the computer. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.
