APP: Symantec Alert Management System Buffer Overflow
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the Symantec Alert Management System. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the server.
Extended Description
Multiple Symantec products are prone to a stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability. Successfully exploiting this issue will allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges, completely compromising affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
