HTTP: VLC Media Player 'ftp' URI Handler '.m3u' File Buffer Overflow
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known flaw in VLC Media Player v1.0.5 (Goldeneye) when handling M3U files with ftp:// URI handler. A successful attack could result in arbitrary code execution.
Extended Description
VLC media player is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. Attackers may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions. VLC media player 1.0.5 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
