HTTP: Media Commands Media File Heap Buffer Overflow
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against Media Commands Media File. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the affected application.
Extended Description
Media Commands is prone to multiple heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. Successfully exploiting these issues may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed exploit attempts will cause denial-of-service conditions. Media Commands 1.0 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
