This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against ESET Smart Security. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the affected application.
ESET Smart Security and NOD32 Antivirus are prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because they fail to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. Successfully exploiting this issue may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions. ESET Smart Security 4.2 and NOD32 Antivirus 4.2 are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
