This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in Sopcast. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
SopCast is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability. Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the application (typically Internet Explorer) that uses the ActiveX control. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition. SopCast 3.2.9 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
