This signature detects attempts to use an unsafe ActiveX control in the Microsoft Internet Explorer OvCtl. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
Microsoft Internet Explorer is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability. This issue is triggered when an attacker convinces a victim user to visit a malicious website. Remote attackers may exploit this issue to crash Internet Explorer, effectively denying service to legitimate users.
