This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in Kingsoft Antivirus Online Update Module. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser, resulting in a user-level arbitrary code execution.
Kingsoft Antivirus Online Update Module ActiveX control is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of an application running the control (typically Internet Explorer). Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.
