HTTP: IDAutomation Barcode Unsafe ActiveX Controls

This signature detects attempts to use an unsafe ActiveX control in IDAutomation Barcode. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.

Extended Description

IDAutomation Barcode ActiveX controls are prone to multiple vulnerabilities that allow attackers to overwrite arbitrary files. An attacker can exploit these issues by enticing an unsuspecting victim to view a malicious HTML page. Successfully exploiting these issues will allow the attacker to corrupt and overwrite arbitrary files on the victim's computer in the context of the vulnerable application, typically Internet Explorer, using the ActiveX control.
