This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in HP Mercury Quality Center. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
HP Mercury Quality Center ActiveX control is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to adequately bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer. Exploiting this issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of applications using the affected ActiveX control and possibly to compromise affected computers. HP Mercury Quality Center 8.2 SP1 and 9.0 are vulnerable to this issue.
