This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in the ASUS NET4SWITCH. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
ASUS Net4Switch is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. Attackers may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application using the ActiveX control (typically Internet Explorer). Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions. ASUS Net4Switch ipswcom.dll 1.0.0.1 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
