This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls against AoA DVD Creator. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
AoA DVD Creator and MP4 Converter are prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the applications fail to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. Successful exploits will allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application (typically Internet Explorer) using the ActiveX control. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.
