This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the F-PROT Antivirus. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the server.
F-PROT Antivirus is prone to a remote heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer. An attacker may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the user running the application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions. This vulnerability is reported on F-PROT Antivirus 3.16f and 4.6.6; other versions may also be affected.
