This signature detects attempts to exploit a known Cross Site Scripting vulnerability in Cisco Unified Operation Manager. It is due to improper user input filtering. A remote attacker can exploit this by enticing a target user to open a web page. In a successful code injection attack, the behavior of the target host is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code and executes within the security context of the currently logged in user.
Cisco Unified Operations Manager is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied data. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may allow the attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials and to launch other attacks. This issue is being tracked by Cisco Bug ID CSCto12712. Cisco Unified Operations Manager versions prior to 8.6 are vulnerable.
