This signature detects format strings in FTP commands. A successful attack could result in a Denial of Service (DoS) or arbitrary remote code execution with the privileges of the serving process, possibly root/SYSTEM.
httpdx is prone to multiple remote format-string vulnerabilities. An attacker can exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected server. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition. httpdx 1.4, 1.4.5, 1.4.6, 1.4.6b, and 1.5 are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
