This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Enterasys NetSight. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the vulnerable daemon.
Enterasys Network Management Suite (NMS) is prone to a stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data before copying it to insufficiently sized buffer. Successful exploits will allow attackers to execute arbitrary code with the SYSTEM-level privileges. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition. Versions prior to Network Management Suite 4.1.0.80 are vulnerable.
